About Luke Fox

Who I Am

I'm Luke Fox, a piano technician based in Dacono, Colorado, serving homes, studios, churches, and schools throughout Northern Colorado. I provide careful, precise tuning along with honest assessments of your piano’s condition, whether it’s a family heirloom, a teaching instrument, or a performance piano. With a strong attention to detail and a respect for each instrument’s unique character, my goal is to deliver reliable, high-quality service that you can trust year after year. In my free time I enjoy playing my piano, organ, and harpsichord, and spending time with my family.

With my grandmother being a piano teacher and organist, my mother being a pianist, and my own experience playing piano, organ, and harpsichord, I understand what pianists actually need from their instrument: consistent touch, clear tone, and reliable response across the full range of the keyboard. That perspective informs everything I do on a service call.

I work on all types of acoustic pianos — uprights, studio verticals, baby grands, and concert grands — from everyday home instruments to performance pianos that need to be ready for an audience.

How I Work

Every service call starts with a conversation. Before I open the lid, I want to know how the piano is used, what concerns the owner has, and what the instrument means to the household. That context shapes every decision I make.

I use both electronic tuning devices and aural tuning techniques, cross-checking one against the other. Electronic tools give precision; trained ears catch things that meters miss — the subtle beating between strings, the way a note sustains, the way harmonics stack in a chord. Together they produce a result that is both accurate and musical.

I believe in transparency. After every appointment I'll give you a plain-language summary of your piano's condition — what I found, what I did, and what to watch for over the coming months. No jargon, no upselling, just an honest assessment.

What I Believe About Piano Care

🎵
Regular tuning keeps things stable

Pianos are always under tension, and they slowly drift out of tune no matter how they’re used. Staying on a regular tuning schedule keeps the pitch stable and avoids the need for larger corrections later. It’s less about perfection and more about consistency over time.

🔧
A well-regulated action makes a real difference

If a piano feels uneven or unresponsive, the issue is often mechanical, not musical. Regulation — adjusting the action so everything works together properly - can dramatically improve control and consistency.

❤️‍🩹
Every piano deserves proper care

Whether it’s a high-end instrument or a well-used family piano, the goal is the same: make it play as well as it can and keep it dependable over time.

📋
Honest assessments

You should know exactly what’s going on with your piano. I’ll tell you what I see, what I recommend, and what can wait. If something isn’t worth doing, I’ll say so. The point is to give you clear information so you can make the right decision.
